Many of my friends are soccer fans and will be very happy starting tonight, because the fight is on for the European cup. I am not familiar with soccer, but since I like the city of Paris, on an emotional level, I pay more attention to the French team.
I have heard in ball games that they always talk about "the home advantage". For instance, one of the hosting countries, Poland, will be up against the Greek team in Poland's home field. Being cheered on by your countrymen is often considered as giving you better odds, yet if you were overwhelmed by all the commotion, it could become a double-edged sword and cause more pressure.
This is similar to how we behave in everyday life. Whether we are listening to good or bad voices from outside, we need to be even more clear-minded and keep some distance so we won't be influenced by them.
